Eligibility Criteria
B.Sc. Medical Biochemistry: Aspiring students should have passed an intermediate (10+2) in science with Physics, chemistry and biology subjects from a recognized school board
M.Sc. Medical Biochemistry: Aspiring students should have completed their BSc degree in either of the subjects which are Biochemistry, Chemistry, Zoology, Nutrition, Food Sciences, Botany or BSc in Animal Science, Medicine or Veterinary science or Agriculture from relevant universities.
M.D Biochemistry: MBBS/BAMS with minimum MBBS/BAMS minimum 55% marks in aggregate.
Ph.D. in Medical Biochemistry: Candidates should have a degree in MBBS or M.Sc. (specific subject or allied field) with at least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA in aggregate from a
Entrance Examination
Admission to B.Sc., M.Sc. Medical Biochemistry course is Merit-based or an Entrance-based. Most of the colleges conduct counseling and select students based on the merit list prepared by the universities. Some of the reputed colleges conduct entrance exams to select students for this course admission. Entrance exams may vary from state to state. Admission to MD Biochemistry course is Entrance-based. The process of admission to M.D. in Biochemistry courses may vary across institutes. Some institutes conduct their own entrance exams for admission, while some select students on the basis of their score at the level of graduation, completed from a recognized college/university.

NEET PG Entrance Exam: NEET-PG is a qualifying cum-ranking examination prescribed as the single entrance examination for admission to various MD/MS and PG Diploma Courses as per Section 10 (D) of Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.
No other entrance examination, either at state or institution level, shall be valid for entry to MD/MS/PG Diploma Courses.
NEET is mandatory even for foreign nationals seeking admission in medical courses in India.
Scope of NEET: NEET-PG shall be the single qualifying cum ranking examination for admission to Postgraduate MD/MS/Diploma Courses for the academic session which will include the following:
- All India 50% quota seats (all States & UT’s)
- State quota seats. (Including the UT’s)
- All Private Medical Colleges, Institutions & Universities/Deemed Universities all across the country
- Armed Forces Medical Services Institutions.
- DNB Post MBBS Courses.
The following Medical institutions are not covered by centralized admissions for MD/MS seats through NEET- PG:

- NIMHANS Bengaluru
- PGIMER Chandigarh,
- Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology Trivandrum.
PGIMER Entrance Exam: Admission to PGIMER is done through two sessions – January and July. As PGIMER is recognized as one of the distinguished medical institutions of India, the MD and MS programmes of PGIMER Chandigarh has a residency-cum-training program which is covered in a span of three years. PGIMER admission is to 306 seats to be filled in 20 specialities of Masters of Surgery (MS) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) courses. The exam was held across 16 test cities. The process of admission is based on merit and according to the ranks obtained by the candidates in the entrance examination. Candidates who have qualified the entrance test will be invited to participate in the offline counselling of PGIMER
