Linguistics has been relevant in any scenario even to build the society in a better manner and is in existence as it is a need for cultural advancement. Arabic is one among the six languages which is officially recognised by the UN. Undoubtedly, it can be that it has made a grip in the cultural,economical and professional area. Thus, more than twenty three countries in the world have considered Arabic as an official language. Rather, the Holy Quraan was penned in Arabic language.
Millions in non native Arabic speaking countries like India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh and Pakistan are acquiring Arabic linguistic skills and they are good in performing the four core areas (LSRW) of the language. Our govt. is also considering the proposal to set up an Arabic university and will be in reality in the near future. An academic concentration on Arabic focuses on a world language widely used by communities in Northern African regions and Middle Eastern regions. The language is also spoken in many communities spread throughout the world.
It’s taught in primary level and then to research level as well. Arabic as language has become a skill set along with other soft skills.
Courses
Diploma in Elementary Education (D. El. Ed ): Two years of teachers training for a Diploma course.
D. El.Ed + KTet are the qualifications for LP/UP teachers.
For D.El.Ed course, 150 seats are available in three centres all over the Kerala
- Govt. TTI Kollam 50 seats
- Govt. TTI Malappuram 50 seats
- Govt. TTI for women Calicut 50 seats
BA Arabic / BA Afzal Ul Ulama: Three years degree course
B.Ed: Two years course.
MA Arabic / Post Afzal Ul Ulama: Two years PG course
The syllabus includes Arabic language and literature. They can attend UGC NET once it is finished the first semester and can also get into the research level
MA Arabic/Post Afzal Ul ulama + B.Ed + SET/MPhil/MEd are the qualifications to be a teacher in higher secondary.
MA Arabic/Post Afzal Ul Ulama + NET are the eligibilities for being a
College teacher in Arabic. M.phil/Ph.D holders will get priority.
M.Ed: Two years course.
The M.Ed candidates can be a teacher in colleges and also in higher secondary school with NET/SET respectively. B.Ed colleges and DIET are also looking for M.Ed teachers.
M.Phil: one year course
University will conduct the M.Phil course.
M.Phil candidates will get an exception for certain papers to pursue Ph.D.
Ph.D: 3-6 years
PG holders can apply for Ph.D.
Required Skills and Aptitude
Linguistic ability.
Ability of four core areas (LSWR) of language.
Eligibility Criteria
D. El. Ed. two years course
- Plus 2 pass with Arabic as main or secondary language or Afzal Ul Ulama pass
- Arabic degree or PG from any Universities in Kerala or recognised by the same.
- SSLC from oriental school or Academic school as Arabic main and any plus two pass
BA Arabic/BA Afzal Ul Ulama
- Plus two or Afzal Ul Ulama preliminary pass. Priority to Arabic students
MA Arabic (language & literature)/Post Afzal Ul Ulama
- BA / BA Afzal Ul Ulama / Bsc with Arabic as main or second language
Job Profiles
One who qualifies Afzal Ul Ulama or a degree in Arabic can join as a religious teacher in defence forces with a Commissioned Officer rank. Besides, Arabic is one of the two foreign languages that is opted by the cadets in Kannur Ezhimala Naval Academy.
And plenty of opportunities are awaiting in India and outside, especially in embassies and in media platforms as well.
